What may have looked like a good joke turns out to be the perfect fusion, indeed. These four enterprising women created Lapa Studio in El Cotillo, a place where tenderness and creativity flow, blending pieces of art, design and décor authored by local artisans and foreign brands, specifically selected to be part of this projec.
As you get inside this little studio-shop, you feel like you’re going into a lovely and odd place, that invites you to contemplate and almost whisper in order not to break the balance of what’s in there. The smile of any of its owners and an enthusiastic and warm «Hi, good morning or good afternoon» welcome whoever enters Lapa, inviting to wander around each room, carefully and leisurely examine every piece, as special as the place that embraces them.
The four lapas are all artists and artisans with lively minds and they try to enrich their professions and lives with new projects and challenges. This was the fertile ground for destiny to twine the girls’ threads some time ago and start to develop what is now Lapa. It was something that started as a good idea, one of those you talk about while sipping a coffee or a beer, and immediately turned out to be a proper declaration of intents.
But Lapa is a shop and a studio and much more… it is place where to learn, where to create, where to listen and share. Let’s meet the protagonists of this project in a special way: each one of them was described by the others.
JULIA
The designer of the team, Julia is perfection. Minimalist in décor but rococo in good intents, she never leaves anything out of place and in all her compositions you can find this cold –but warm, at the same time– allure she gets from her native Finland and her Nordic inspiration. Her life is full of anecdotes you’d wish to hear time after time. Her quick and acid humour makes you always want to spend time with her. Her presence illuminates any place and there’s no darkness in her. With just one single glance of those deep blue eyes, Julia can say it all, but you are never going to hear her make a critical comment about someone. Her goodness is only comparable to the perfection of her stitches.
GRETA
Cheerful and funny, she emanates sweetness and character at the same time. Greta is art. The one who can stand it all and never complains. In one day, Greta can do a painting with Marlon in her arms, write and lay out a book, distribute posters, take a dip with Chris or go skating together with Oli. She is brave and tenacious, constantly fighting for us to have a better planet, taking action for the environment and nature, always present in her paintings. She needs nobody to survive, perhaps except when she forgets her house or car keys. Her rascal and perfect smile turns this great artist into a person in flesh and bone.
CRIS
She is one of those people who attract without even knowing them. She is electric and natural, pure vitality and energy that are reflected in her creations, so full of colour and power. Cris ties friendships as if they were crochet bags: knots as strong as her hugs, which can never be untied because they are made of threads of goodness and decision. She is funny like nobody else, alluring like her colourful little birds and tender like her crochet bears, till the Yorkshire dog inside of her comes out to stand up for her beloved ones till the end. Her house is always open like her arms, stretched high to hug you every time she meets you.
BILI
Bili is the representation of elegance, sweetness and calm. She is peace, she is home. The world may fall apart, Bili will keep calm and smiling. It looks like she never gets nervous before anything and this is why, thanks to her, everything flows perfectly.
She emanates inspiration and tranquillity and, nevertheless, she is lively and curious about everything in life. She is always willing to learn more and more and to start new projects. On her path there’s never a stone. She may be doing 10 courses at a time, while drawing a logo, sewing a bag, binding a book or carving a stamp. Beauty and inner and outer delicacy reflect in everything she touches.
