Familia Techno Fuerteventura Norte (FTFN) is a cultural movement that was created in Fuerteventura by the hands of a group of old and new friends who love listening to good music, in good company, in privileged places to enjoy it and dance to it, it all combined with an interesting gastronomic offer.

The 12 organizers talked with us about the project and its intention, because they insist that FTFN has an intention, which is its real driving force.

So, what is this intention?
The intention of FTFN is to contribute, give, enrich, and never to bother, trouble nor ruin: with this fundamental principle we were born and with it we’ll die. This principle applies to the nature, the territory, its inhabitants and its customs and, of course, to the human being itself. FTFN fills a huge gap Fuerteventura has in relation to electronic music, but not in a usual way. We don’t organise RAVES nor PARTIES, nor anything that can have a negative effect on people or on the environment, and neither we want to change the perception of the island abroad. FTFN organises MEETINGS of nice and polite people who respect the others, the environment and the good manners. We enjoy techno music with its roots and variations, without distorting its real meaning. In these MEETINGS, we enjoy some good quality and avant-garde music, in privileged places while tasting great food in good company. It’s difficult to describe the atmosphere in our MEETINGS, you have to enjoy it and live it.

So, you are like an event promotion company, aren’t you?
It all started with friends and with the only aim of enjoying one of our favourite hobbies. As in any other activity you do with your friends, like travelling or go camping, we used to meet every now and then, rent a place, sound equipment, buy some food and drinks and then split costs. People started to get interested in our meetings, both to enjoy and deejay in them. We have both national and international followers, and some artists we consider as reference points have contacted us. There was a strong wish to listen to and play some good music, and to do it in the conditions we said. So, one year ago, we decided to meet and talk about what was going on. One thing led to another and now here we are. FTFN is certainly the germ of an event promotion company, a label and a dj agency. This our present situation.

How do you inform your public about our meetings?
We have two Whatsapp groups, and through our Facebook page we try to bring TECHNO music, its culture and origins, to the people, and to repair its poor reputation. We also have a profile on SoundCloud to express ourselves musically through playlists we will play during our MEETINGS.

Tell me something about your music, it intrigues me because you put special emphasis on it.
I’ve been deejaying for 21 years and loving this kind of music for 5 years before that. With time, I’ve developed a good ear for music while understanding a lot of things, and I finally discovered that music is a matter of communication. If you have the ability to listen to it deeply, you realize there’s good and bad music in any genre. That’s why we mainly focus on good quality music. Personally, I don’t like Boris Bretchja, for example, nor Luciano; and what’s more, his music bothers me. On the other hand, if we talk about Juan Atkins, Convextion, Conforce, SequentialCircuitsDj, Damon Wild, AphexTwin, Moodyman or Carl Craig – many of you may have got lost – we are referring to good quality music, which is what we like.

Do you deejay yourselves or do you bring these top-level artists?
In June, we are welcoming none other than Eduardo De La Calle, the manager of Ánalog Solutions and the only Spanish dj who publishes with label PLANET E, with almost two hundred 12” on the market, more than 20 years of experience and dj sets in more than 50 countries. I think there are no more than four or five artists in this music genre who can boast something like that. He is performing a 4-hour dj set in one of our Meetings, together with Sebastian Roya (Gran Canaria) Serx Einheri (Barcelona), Son Of 8-Bits (Holland), Flenndo (Gran Canaria-FTFN) and our local djs Rous Heven and Konsysttema.
In October we are hosting Christian Wunsch and Orbe, and we are working to have a b2b between Angel Molina and Eduardo de la Calle.

So you have some kind of selection of your public, haven’t you?
Well, FTFN’s main value lies in the group of people who are part of it. Due to the demand from the outside and the great need the island had for such a cultural movement, we decided to open our doors to new members. To keep our quality and good vibrations unchanged, we created our own admission policy and selection of public, mainly because we support a good and healthy way of having fun and hanging out.
We plan our meetings down to the last detail, we follow a «hierarchical» priority order. We like what’s good: organic food, fine wine and Fuerteventura’s cheese.
Considering all this, it is clear that if we love techno music, we love to listen to it in the best and most proper sound and acoustic conditions. To this purpose, we count on our own Mackie SRM music equipment: we offer our public nothing other than a 6400-Watts sound quality. This is how we get everybody fully enjoy these good performances and have an awesome feedback from our public and artists. This great sound quality perfectly combines with our maxim of keeping a limited and reduced capacity.
Participating in and enjoying a FTFN meeting is a special experience for many reasons. There are plenty of things you’ll like, but what’s guaranteed is that you’ll fall in love with our sound.
You’ll hardly find a place where you can listen to techno music in the best conditions as regards environment, location, acoustics, sound, music, people, atmosphere, food, and much more. This is why we select our public and limit the capacity.
