Last December 7th in Bristol(Corralejo), the Surf and Bodyboard championship took place, launched by the local club Mar Azul, in which about 70 athletes of all ages among all the categories took part.

One day that started at 8h00 totally devoted to Surf and Bodyboard, marked by outstanding conditions. During the whole day, the diverse races in under 12, under 16, Open Longboard and Open of Bodyboard categories followed.
On the 8th, in Sunset Lounge of Corralejo, the award ceremony was celebrated in the most festive atmosphere, giving paella to participants, family and friends, where all kind of prizes were awarded to the first positions for juniors, and cash prizes for adults which got the first position in their respective categories.
One of the promotors of this championship, Francis Guti?rrez, member of Club Mar Azul, passes us on the club philosophy: ?creating a circuit in Fuerteventura with three or four events a year, whose idea is to support, mainly, the youngest local team, sponsoring all those youngsters getting the first position in the different events of the circuit, thus helping their families to go and compete away from the island, all of this to promote this great team of children we have?.
Francis wants also to convey his gratefulness to the sponsors who made the event possible, doing their bit so this project succeeds?.
El Club Mar Azul, made up by local surfers, was born in 2002, but after some years not enjoying much activity, recovers now its strenght with this championship that intends to be the first one of many others. At present, they?re in process of membership recruitment so they can go on arranging events and projects for the year 2020.
