From a very early age, Melissa used to spend a long time in the kitchen. Her parents, amateur cooks, instilled on her the passion for cuisine and took her to thousands of restaurants to try all kinds of flavours. She remembers very dearly the afternoons she spent with her grand-mother cooking different dishes and desserts from different nooks of the world. Moreover her relatives, on her mother’s side, come from different countries (Burundi, Seychelles, Morocco…), reason why exotic flavours play a part in her childhood. Her relatives on her father’s side, Belgian, taught her about the traditional French and Belgian cuisine, mainly the good wines. In time, this passion for the good cuisine became her way of life after studying Dietetics and Nutrition in Belgium.
«ComoComo» was set up in Lajares, in 2014, a home delivery catering service with healthy, delicious and different food. Nowadays many people enjoy this balanced cuisine daily. Melissa is very grateful to Sophi, her college mate, who supported her at the beginning of the project. We talked to Melissa to get further details about this interesting and «tasty» cuisine project.

What is the philosophy of ComoComo?
That everybody have the chance eating healthy, tasty and good meals without going bankrupt. Mainly I search for balance and variety as I have regular customers who visit Comocomo daily.
Every week has, at least, one or two vegetarian dishes, a fish menu, another more exotic menu, one meat menu and a chicken one. All of them with rice, pasta, potatoes or quinoa.
They who enjoy my dishes will notice that what I like most is Asiatic food and, obviously, this is what my customers order the most. We share the same taste.
How can we know about your weekly menu and how does the home delivery work?
Every Sunday I publish my menu in Facebook, in a whatsapp group and also I send it by mail if you ask for it. People usually order beforehand, the night before delivery at the latest. Delivery usually takes place between 12 and 14h, except in exceptional occasions.
I cook Monday to Friday, and I only have home-delivery for the North of the island. The price is of 8€ per serving. As I cook daily I can adapt the menu of the day to the needs of my customers: vegetarian, allergic…
Moreover, ComoComo proposes:
— Customized menus for event catering services (birthdays, weddings, dinners with friends), retreats, rental holiday houses….
— Catering customized service for productions.
— Kitchen workshops for children and handicapped people.
— In collaboration with Cross Island (company touring the North of the Island). They prepare food for their excursions.
— Cakes in El Arco of Lajares.
