Almost one year ago, Renato Markovic, from the Italian region of Veneto, dedicated to the hotel industry since age 14, arrived in Fuerteventura with the idea of starting his own business.
After finishing his studies in Corralejo, related to the hotel industry, in July last year he decided to set up the burger restaurant D. Sánchez, focused on vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food.
In D. Sanchez, the base of the dishes are vegan burgers, 7 different varieties: chickpeas, chickpeas with mushrooms, lentils, beans, spinach, broccoli or aubergine, which contain no gluten or animal products. The remaining ingredients, apart from whole-grain bread, are chosen by the customer from a list of healthy and quality products, thus defining what could be called a fresh and creative cuisine.
Renato buys most vegetable ingredients for D.Sánchez at the Biosphere market, ensuring the «majorero» origin of most of them, and also of their goat cheese.
The sauces are home-made, highlighting the Hot XXX Sánchez, extra spicy, the one with yoghurt, the tartar sauce, their hummus and their vegan mayonnaise made of soy, lemon and oil.
But Renato knows it’s difficult that in a group of friends all of them be vegetarians, vegans or coeliacs, and he knows that those who do not consume this kind of food
like other ingredients, therefore, among the add-ins that can accompany burgers there are also octopus, prawns, ham, turkey, bacon, sausage, pork loin, chicken, «serrano» ham …, that is, options for all tastes.
Beside burgers, in D.Sánchez you can also find sandwiches, salads and juices, equally creative, which everyone can make according to their taste, with ingredients and sauces that appear on the menu.
So if you like to choose the combination of ingredients for your dishes in D.Sánchez you have the opportunity to mix and experiment with your favourite flavours, while you take care of your nutrition.
